Army’s first mixed crew,
sponsored by M2M2, breaks
world record in Atlantic race
Made to Measure Mentoring (M2M2®) sponsored the British Army’s latest official rowing team, Force Atlantic 2021, which entered the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge in December 2021.
The race, a 3,000-mile unsupported journey between the Canary Isles and Antigua, is known as the world’s toughest row. The team successfully completed the crossing on 22nd January 2022 in a world record time for a mixed-sex team of four, in exactly 41 days – beating the record by one day and nine hours.

In addition to providing financial support as a Platinum Sponsor, M2M2 mentored the mixed team of two males and two females. M2M2’s partner Cardiff Metropolitan University also provided physiological testing to the team as part of their preparations.
The company previously sponsored Force Atlantic 2019, the Army’s first official crew, which included an 18-year-old soldier who became the fastest teenager to make the crossing.
M2M2 Joint Managing Director, Dr Andy Miles, highlighted the strong connection between the values of the team and the company’s work. Prior to the race, he said: ‘Having made our commitment to the sponsorship at the beginning of the Force Atlantic 2021 campaign, we have worked with the crew during the past year to help them prepare for the challenges of the crossing. Our mentoring team has helped explore the qualities of resilience, teamwork and personal performance the crew will need. We are very proud of our association with the Force Atlantic programme and wish the 2021 crew a fantastic adventure.’
M2M2’s sponsorship was confirmed at the Force Atlantic launch in London in early October 2021.
