Changing the culture of the British Army
- 20% of soldiers exposed to coaching
and mentoring
M2M2’s work on the British Army Trainer Capability (ATC) programme accredited another 2211 British soldiers with civilian qualifications in 2024/25, according to a new report. This means M2M2’s work on the ATC has delivered more than 13000 qualifications since 2018, exposing 20% of soldiers to the values of coaching and mentoring and changing the culture of the British Army.

The Army’s ATC Lead, Major Jason Hill emphasised that the ATC is ‘the premier trainer accreditation programme for the British Army.” He added: “It has significantly influenced the cultural landscape, exposing over 20% of the Army to the values of coaching and mentoring within education and training.”

The new report, an annual audit prepared by CDS DS, M2M2’s long-term partner on the ATC contract, also shows rising successful course completion rates and the innovative use of an ‘Anytime’ course that allows trainees to study at their own pace, wherever they are.

Commanding Officer at the Army Instructor School (AIS) in Pirbright, Lt Col Ed Thompson praised M2M2’s approach: “M2M2 consistently goes above and beyond to ensure learners are fully supported in achieving their civilian qualifications. Perhaps the greatest testament to their value is their deep understanding of the military context. Agile, solutions-focused, and seamlessly integrated into our way of working, they are more than a service provider, they are a trusted and indispensable partner.”

M2M2’s Managing Director (Commercial), Tony Robinson, welcomed the report, saying: ‘Our ATC delivery has evolved over the years, particularly throughout the Covid 19 pandemic, when we added a blend of webinars, one-to-one coaching, e-tutoring and e-learning centralised workshops to our initial face-to-face approach. The ‘Anytime’ course enables learners to achieve a City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Coaching & Mentoring in their own time, alongside our onsite and online ILM qualifications at Levels 3 to 7. We are delighted that this new option is making our qualifications achievable to ever greater numbers of soldiers.’
