OBE for M2M2 NATO doctoral candidate

Many congratulations to Steve Pengilly, who recently joined the M2M2 NATO Professional Doctorate Programme, on being awarded the OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List.

Lieutenant Colonel Pengilly is currently Staff Officer for NATO’s Experimentation and Wargaming Branch (EWB) at NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) in Norfolk, Virginia, USA. His previous roles included British Army Liaison Officer to the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, for which he was awarded the Defence Meritorious Service Medal from the United States Department of Defense.
Reflecting on his OBE, he thanked ‘the exceptional leaders I have had the privilege to serve under over the past few years, whose trust and wisdom empowered me at every turn.’
He also looked forward with great enthusiasm to his doctoral journey on the M2M2 NATO programme, saying: “I joined the British Army without any higher academic qualifications. The Army trained me, educated me, and gave me more opportunities to learn than I ever imagined possible.
“Pursuing a doctorate has been a long-term goal, and I’m incredibly grateful to NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) for the opportunity to dive deep into some truly meaningful research.”
Steve Pengilly’s doctorate will be directed by M2M2’s Managing Director (Academic) Dr Andy Miles in partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University (CMU).
